About Mike Baur
Mike Baur is an accomplished Swiss businessman and entrepreneur. He became fascinated with the subject of banking and finance way back as a youth. Today, Mike boasts of making a career out of his life-long dream. He uses his time and resources to help aspiring Swiss entrepreneurs realize their ambitious dreams. In 2014, he teamed up with his two partners, Max Meister and Oliver Walzer to start the Swiss Startup Factory, a business incubator designed to help tech entrepreneurs gain access to tools, resources, and support needed to succeed. The firm devotes to help brighten the future of the Swiss startup ecosystem.
Mike Baur was born and raised up in Fribourg, Switzerland. By the age of 19, Mike Baur had earned an MBA from the University of Rochester. Later on, he advanced to earn an Executive MBA from Bern University. Upon graduating, Mike Baur spent over 20 years working in the Swiss private banking industry. He began working as a commercial apprentice at UBS before quitting at the age 39 to venture into startup companies. Despite starting as a junior officer, Mike worked his way up to become an Executive Board member of several Swiss private banks.
Instead of concentrating in personal pursuits, Mike Baur focus on brightening the future of the Swiss startup ecosystem and the hopes and dreams of young digital entrepreneurs in Switzerland. Through the Swiss Startup Factory, the premier independent and privately-financed ICT accelerator in Switzerland, Mike Baur helps young entrepreneurs in Switzerland to achieve their goals. He uses a dedicated business-driven approach to help Swiss entrepreneurs to get their ideas off the ground. Today, Swiss Startup Factory ranks as Switzerland’s leading business incubator.
Besides financing, Mike Baur invests a significant portion of his time, resources, and talent to help Swiss startups succeed. He works with other organizations such as Fintech Fusion, Goldbach Group, and CTI Invest to further develop the Swiss startup ecosystem. Not only does Mike Baur offers financial support to Swiss youth entrepreneurship, but also mentors young entrepreneurs in Switzerland. He also leverages his experience and extensive network with financial institutions such as UBS and Clariden Leu to provide Swiss entrepreneurs the support and opportunity needed to excel. The Wall Street Journal recently profiled Mike Baur’s early career from Swiss banking to entrepreneurship. Through the SSUF, Mike Baur invests in accelerator programs to help digital entrepreneurs in Switzerland to bring their ideas to the market.
